Everyone loves a good Antihero

whether it's a fictional character like robin hood, batman, wolverine, or han solo- or a real life historical fiqure like Billy the Kid or al capone- we've always been drawn to a good antihero.

someone who manages to play both sides of the coin while getting the job done in their own, often unorthodox, way. they're sometimes questionable in their actions, but almost always eye catching and entertaining.

A good antihero needs an origin.

I can't promise it's a great origin story filled with mystery, intrigue, and acts of bravery, but it's an origin story nonetheless.

I'm Ryan Holmes. A Texas-born insomniac, who does original or custom ordered works of art in a few different mediums. I would say that paint is my normal method of choice, but I also work in pencil, pen & ink, charcoal, colored pencils, and even a little graphic design. And I will continue to work in all of those mediums until A.I. eventually becomes our robot overlords.

I grew up in a small town in northeast Texas where I immediately gravitated towards art. If I wasn't playing with toys or video games with friends, I was probably drawing or doodling something most of the time. Starting with my love of cartoons and hand-drawn animation, to comic books, to an odd love of drawing architecture that very few 10 year-olds shared. (And by very few, I mean none.) I did take a few classes growing up from a local artist, but I'm mostly self taught. When attending college, where I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a B.A. in Visual Communications, I was constantly trying to relearn techniques the "right way." But that was hard and I was stubborn so I went back to doing things the way I taught myself.

Which is where the antihero connection comes from. I probably don't "go by the book" or do things the "right" or even common way, but I always strive to create unique and original works of art that people will enjoy for years to come. Besides, art, like anti-heroes, is a lot about getting to the destination and experiencing things in a different way. A way most people wouldn't go. At least, that's what I've always thought. So thank you for visiting, and please reach out if you have any questions about anything you like, or something you might want.
